The suit was filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, with Judy listed as the claimant and Chukwuobasi as the defendant. According to the court document shared by the actress, the writ was dated July 1, 2026.
In the suit, Judy is seeking N1 billion in general damages over the alleged defamatory statements made against her.
She is also asking the court to compel the defendant to publish a full and unreserved retraction and apology to her in at least two widely circulated national newspapers and on all his social media platforms.
Judy further wants a perpetual injunction restraining Chukwuobasi, his agents and privies from publishing or circulating what she describes as defamatory statements against her.
The actress is additionally seeking N500 million in aggravated damages, alleging that the statements were persisted in and repeatedly published despite their alleged harmful consequences.
She is also demanding N500 million in exemplary damages, arguing that the alleged conduct was deliberate and malicious, as well as N100 million in costs of prosecuting the suit.
The court document further seeks post-judgment interest of 10 per cent per annum, or any other rate the court may deem appropriate, from the date of judgment until the monetary awards are fully settled.
The legal action comes amid a public dispute between Judy and her former husband, with Chukwuobasi previously making allegations concerning their past relationship and children. His claims have continued to attract public attention and reactions online.
